Welcome to my website. My friends say I can do anything but honestly every artist has their strengths and their weaknesses. I do enjoy a new challenge though, and have experimented with many different mediums.
I am currently working as an illustrator because I love to draw and have a natural "hand"—enjoy the expressiveness, spontaneity and sudden detail of drawing. My earliest memories are "concentrating" and drawing ballerinas, animals, families... houses.
My first children's book illustration project is almost completed; it's about a young boy dealing with the death of his grandfather. 24 full-page spreads, in black ink with acrylic wash. Coming from a middle-class New York family, I enjoy the written word and narrative. I have also worked as a storyboard artist for commercial productions both in LA and in Auckland.
At certain points in my life I have painted in oils (yummy!), often doing commissions. Last year I painted a geometric abstract installation, in oil on Plexiglass, for a country home in upstate New York.
I'm also drawn to three dimensional work. Again, most of this is representational but not all of it... I've been employed as a prop-maker and most enjoyably as a designer of children's museum exhibits both in New York and in LA. I love to carve, build, model, construct, etc.
As a young person, I trained as a cabinet-maker and have used these skills to design and build fine furniture and decorative motifs.
I'm a hands-on person, happy when I am creating something beautiful. Please enjoy the site.
